For more than 50 years, volunteers have helped the Portland-Sapporo Sister City Association realize its mission of fostering a strong relationship between the U.S. and Japan, keeping PSSCA a healthy and vibrant local organization.

Potential volunteers are not required to have a direct connection with Japan, although an interest in or knowledge of Japanese culture is a definite plus. Many skill sets are needed to support the many events and activities of the Association.

Volunteer opportunities include serving as a guide or chaperone for Japanese tourists or delegations, helping prepare or serve food at an Association event, helping solicit donations or funds for PSSCA, working on a specific event or program committee or helping work at a booth at an Association event. Bi-lingual volunteers may be asked to serve as interpreters for visiting delegates.
