Home Visits are a wonderful way to learn about other cultures and have them learn about ours. PSSCA has a long history of promoting visits in citizens' homes. Traditional 'Homestays' have visitors actually living in the home with the host family for a period of days, or weeks. Many lasting friendships have come from homestays. These visits work well for singles, or a couple -- and especially for students or government interns.

Those interested in hosting a small event in their home who are unable to have overnight guests can still participate in a Home Visit. A Home Visit event can be as simple as an afternoon tea, or something more elaborate (like a formal dinner party). Taking a guest or a few guests on a tour of the city is another great way of sharing our area and Portland's culture -- without a large financial or time burden.

If you'd like more information, one of our Directors will be happy to talk with you. Please feel free to CONTACT US. We look forward to hearing from you!

In late March PSSCA will host the winners of a Sapporo Oratorical Contest in a goodwill visit to Portland. Homestay families are currently being recruited to host five delegates from March 26 through April 2, 2011.
